Saturday November 1st, St Catharine’s Convent, Lauriston Gardens

 

A day led by Fr Gero McLoughlin, S.J. in which the study of five masterpieces of Western art will lead to reflection and prayer about the quality of Christian faith they illustrate.

 

The day will be held at St Catherine's Convent, 4 Lauriston Gardens and will run from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

 

Gero McLoughlin, S.J. is a member of the Edinburgh Jesuit community. He has been engaged in Ignatian spirituality ministries for the last 25 years. He is also a member of the Epiphany Group, a group of lay and ordained people from different Christian traditions who have trained in and practise Ignatian spirituality in Scotland.

The popular week long theology school, Edinburgh Living Theology, under the direction of Fr John McDade SJ, takes place this year from July 21st to 25th in St Catharine’s Convent, Lauriston Gardens, Edinburgh EH3 9HH

In the morning participants choose two from a list of optional courses to enable them to pursue special interests in small groups. In the afternoon all follow the Core Course on a central topic of Catholic thought, which this year will be The
Challenge of Atheism

 

Participants are invited to bring a packed lunch each day, and soup and coffee are provided. The Eucharist is celebrated daily. Participants sign on to attend the full five-day programme from Monday to Friday, and cannot be accepted for only part of each day or part of the week. Early application is advisable in order to secure membership of the optional courses of one’s choice.
